Thanksgiving Reflection

 Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023

I give thanks for this day. I have been thinking deeply this morning how grateful I am for my existence as a human being, and for this lifetime of engagement with other people, with this growing sense of humanity as a big, sprawling family, and that we need to take care of each other more.

However, I even feel grateful for the people who are trying to screw me over, the ones who primarily think only of themselves. I am grateful for the people who wrestle with addictions, greed, lust and all of the wounds that make it difficult to achieve or attain our full potential.

I am grateful for myself, too, as I navigate through everything that is happening, absorbing all this discordant energy and doing my best to bring harmony and beauty out of so much pain and suffering in the world.

It's a major paradigm shift for me to embrace everyone, with all of their hatreds, violence, and injustice. I am praying for peace and for all of humanity this morning. The ancient battlefields are drawing us in to determine how much we have changed and evolved. Humanity is being tested. Are we worthy to go on?

What I am gaining from this existence is a sharper definition of who and what I am, and what I am capable of doing. It propels me into a deeper sense of creation. For what are the many creative acts that I engage in but a form of creation?

A life devoted to gratitude, forgiveness, beauty, kindness and compassion gives fertile ground for new ideas to grow, for miracles to happen, and for healing to get activated. And as more and more people receive deep healing, the benefits ripple out to their family and friends and their communities.

So in this moment of thanksgiving, I call on all of the spiritual beings that I have kinship with, and all of the spiritual beings that everyone in humanity has bonded with, to help and guide us in our next act.

May healing come to the people involved in the wars in Ukraine and in the Middle East. Only through healing will the wars end and peace prevail. I have made a great leap to this understanding, as I have thought in recent years that all we had to do was make wars unprofitable. It's still not a bad idea, but it will never happen without a major healing for all of humanity.

And this can happen. I know it can, with the spiritual power of our collective. I trust in this process.
